A few weeks ago, I made these for dinner as someone made the
demanding exciting request that his tacos be “Asian inspired”.
The dinner was definitely one of the best things I’ve ever sent out of the kitchen; however the short ribs were pretty pricey so I’ve been hesitant to remake. Saddled with an excess of Asian spices/sauces, I decided to try my own marinade using what I had on hand.
The result: sweet and spicy and summer-y.1/4 c. toasted sesame oil 1/4 c. honey 1/4 c. soy sauce 2 tbsp. hot chili oil *this stuff is awesome–if you like heat, don’t be afraid to get wild 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tbsp. anise seed 2 small cloves garlic, minced juice from 1 small lime 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper
I marinated stir fry beef overnight and then popped it on some skewers and broiled with peppers, pineapple, and onion and voilà–kabobs. Served with brown rice and everything sprinkled with fresh cilantro. Perfect if you’re planning a pool grill party this weekend.
